RAMALLAH, August 12, 2015
(WAFA) – The three Palestinian Arabic dailies focused in their Wednesday issue
on Israel’s demolition of a number of commercial and residential structures in
Jerusalem, the Jordan Valley, and Jenin.
They reported that the Israeli
authorities Tuesday demolished a building in Atarot Industrial Zone, to the
north of Jerusalem, residential structures near Hamra checkpoint, in northern
Jordan Valley, and commercial facilities in the village of al-Jalameh, north of
Jenin.
Al-Quds and al-Hayat al-Jadida
highlighted remarks by Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah, where he said that
UNRWA’s financial crisis was on its way towards a solution.
Al-Ayyam said Yoav Mordechai,
Coordinator of the Israeli Government Activities in the West Bank, threatened
to demolish residential structures built by the European Union in Area C of the
West Bank, under complete Israeli control.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida said 30
hunger striking Palestinian prisoners in the Israeli Nafha prison ended their
hunger strike, after the prison authorities agreed to allow them back to Rimon
prison. The prison authorities recently considered the transfer of many
prisoners from one prison to another, a measure that was considered provocative
by the prisoners.
Al-Quds said President Mahmoud
Abbas asked advisors to examine referring Israel’s recently approved
force-feeding bill to the ICC.
Al-Quds said the Jewish
organization Ateret Cohanim submitted to the Israeli Planning and Construciton
Committed a blue print to build a new settlement building in the Jerusalem
neighborhood of Silwan.
Al-Quds and al-Ayyam said
Israeli police Tuesday assaulted a crowd of Palestinian children at the
entrance of al-Aqsa Mosque compound in Jerusalem, and prevented them from
entering the holy site.
Al-Ayyam said the Israeli
authorities thwarted 17 attacks on Israeli targets in the West Bank since the
beginning of 2015.
Al-Ayyam said the cabinet
decided to take austerity measures to help address the current financial
deficit faced by the Palestinian Authority.
