RAMALLAH, August 8, 2015 (WAFA) – The Israeli airstrike that
targeted Nuseirat refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip together with quelling
of weekly peaceful rallies by Israeli forces across the West Bank, are two news
items that hit the front page headlines in Palestinian dailies.
Al-Quds reported in its main front page article that an Israeli
airstrike targeted a site in Gaza Strip.
Al-Ayyam reported in this regard that four Palestinians were
injured in an airstrike that targeted a site for al-Qassam brigades in
al-Bureij.
The three dailies also reported that dozens of Palestinians were
injured and suffocated as Israeli forces quelled Friday weekly rallies across
the West Bank. This appeared as part of the main front page news item in
al-Quds.
Furthermore, the three dailies highlighted the critical health
condition of hunger striking Palestinian detainee Muhammad Allan, who entered
his 49th day without food this week in protest of his administrative
detention.
They reported that Israeli Prison Service would force feed Allan.
Al-Ayyam reported International Red Cross as warning that hunger striking Allan
faces an “imminent death”.
Al-Ayyam and al-Quds reported that Fatah affiliated Palestinian
detainees in Nafha jail continue their hunger strike.
On the other hand, al-Hayat al-Jadida opted to report in its main
front page article that, according to an Israeli report, the Israeli Internal
Security Agency (Shabak) have been turning a blind eye to crimes perpetrated by
settlers, acting upon government orders.
It also reported that the Catholic churches have filed a complaint
against Bentsi Gofstein, an extremist Jew and Chairman
of the radical Israeli organization of 'Lehava', for advocating torching churches.
Furthermore, al-Quds reported Israeli National Academy of Sciences
as criticizing the politicization of Israeli archeology.
It reported the academy as saying that Israeli archeological
excavations are intended to take over land and change the character of
Jerusalem.
Moreover, the three dailies reported on Palestinian Health Minister
Jawad Allan as stating Friday that the health condition of Ahmad Dawabsheh, 4,
and his mother Riham, has slightly improved and that Ahmad has opened his eyes
for the first time.
Al-Quds quoted Palestinian Health Ministry Spokesperson Ashraf
al-Qedra as warning that Gaza hospitals are “on the verge of collapse” and
“face the threat of complete closure”.
Al-Ayyam reported that Israeli settlers continued to gather in
front of a Palestinian-owned house in the Old City of Hebron calling for
seizing it and turning it into a new settlement outpost.
