RAMALLAH, July 21, 2015 (WAFA) – News that the European Union (EU)
is exploring the possibility of setting up an international support group to
revive Palestinian-Israeli ‘peace talks’ hit the front page headlines in the
three Palestinian Arabic dailies.
The three dailies reported that the EU seeks to set up an
international support group to revive the ‘peace talk’.
Al-Ayyam added that the EU has warned Israel about forced transfer
of Palestinians, the demolition of Palestinian homes and property in the Hebron
community of Susiya and expanding settlement construction.
Covering Israeli forces and settlers’ illegal actions against
Palestinians and their property in the West Bank, al-Quds reported that Israeli
forces conducted a large-scale searching operation in the vicinity of one
section of the segregation wall to the west of Jenin.
It further reported that several Palestinians suffocated as Israeli
forces fired tear gas canisters during clashes in the Hebron village of Beit
Ummar and that forces opened gunfire on houses and farmers near the city of
Gaza.
It also reported that Israeli settlers organized provocative
marches near the settlements of ‘Bsajut’ and ‘Beit El’ to the northeast of
Ramallah and the settlements of ‘Shilo’ and ‘Eli’ to the south of Nablus.
During these marches, settlers put up banners calling for more
Palestinian land to be confiscated for the purpose of settlement construction.
Al-Ayyam reported that settlers forced their way into Al-Aqsa
Mosque compound and called for large numbers to force their way into it on next
Sunday.
Besides, al-Quds reported that the human rights organization of St.
Ives has requested the Israeli Ministry of Interior to provide an immediate
solution to the Palestinians of Jerusalem wishing to travel to Jordan in the
aftermath of the ministry employees’ strike.
Al-Ayyam reported on Palestinian Minister of Foreign Affairs Riad
al-Malki as affirming that the Palestinian-Venezuelan relations are rock-solid.
Both al-Ayyam and al-Hayat al-Jadida highlighted a Human Rights
Watch’s report lambasting Israel over abusive detention of Palestinian
children.
Al-Ayyam reported that Human Rights Watch has exposed Israeli
occupation authorities’ violations against Palestinian children, including
beating and other abusive practices.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida reported that Israel has been violating the
rights of Palestinian children and utilizing ‘unjustifiable force’ to detain
them.
Internationally, al-Quds and al-Ayyam highlighted that the UN
Security Council (UNSC) has endorsed the deal on Iran’s nuclear program, paving
the way to lift sanctions crippling its economy.
Highlighting a German delegation’s official visit to Tehran,
al-Hayat al-Jadida reported on German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s Deputy Sigmar
Gabriel as stating that the security of Israel is a prerequisite for good
German-Iranian relations.
Al-Quds also reported in this regard on US National Security
Advisor Susan Rice as confirming that the US will offer Israel an
‘unprecedented’ arms deal in the wake of Iranian deal.
Highlighting the results of an Israeli poll survey, al-Hayat
al-Jadida reported that 51% of Israeli Jews are in favor of reoccupying the
Gaza Strip.
