RAMALLAH, June 9, 2015 (WAFA) –
The three Palestinian Arabic dailies focused in their Tuesday issue on the
United States Supreme Court’s ruling on Monday, which abolished a law that
would have allowed American parents of children born in Jerusalem to list
Israel as their birthplace on passports.
On a different subject,
al-Ayyam said the United Nations excluded Israel from the black list of child
rights violators. Al-Quds added that both Israel and Hamas, the de-facto
authority in Gaza, were excluded from the black list.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida said Israeli
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu asked the left-wing Meretz party to withdraw
a bill which would see settlement-made products marked as such.
Al-Ayyam quoted Greek Prime
Minister Alexis Tsipras as saying that Greece would recognize an independent
state of Palestine in due course.
Al-Ayyam quoted remarks by
Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu, saying that Syria, Iraq, Yemen and Libya have ceased
to exist as states.
Al-Quds said Israeli army
cordoned off a hospital in Beit Jala on Monday to arrest two Palestinians who
were earlier wounded in clashes with the army. The army failed to arrest them.
Al-Ayyam said former Israeli
Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni and Chairman of the Israeli Labour party Isaac
Herzog warned against the negative consequences of a seemingly faltering
two-state solution for peace in the region.
Al-Quds said the Islamic Hamas
Movement denied the presence of any elements wanted by Egypt in Gaza.
