NABLUS, May 24, 2025 (WAFA) – Israeli colonists set fire to approximately 40 dunams of wheat fields on Saturday in the village of Sebastia, northwest of Nablus in the occupied West Bank, according to local officials.
Mohammad Azem, head of the Sebastia municipality, told WAFA that the colonists came from the Shavei Shomron settlement and a newly established outpost in the area. The arson targeted farmland in the village's plain, destroying crops owned by local Palestinian residents.
Azem said the wheat crop was completely destroyed, causing heavy financial losses for the two farmers.
This incident is part of a broader pattern of settler violence across the occupied West Bank. According to a recent report by the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission, Israeli forces and colonists committed 1,693 violations during April alone.
The report documented 1,352 incidents carried out by Israeli forces and 341 by colonists, with the highest numbers recorded in the governorates of Hebron (292), Ramallah and Al-Bireh (269), and Nablus (254).
