RAMALLAH, June 15, 2014 (WAFA) –
Israeli forces Sunday arrested dozens of Palestinians, including Members of the
Palestinian Legislative Council, in different areas in the West Bank, while imposing
a tight military cordon on the districts of Bethlehem and Hebron in the
southern West Bank, according to local and security sources.
Army forces stormed the Hebron area,
where they arrested 20 Palestinians during raids and search operations. Army
closed the main road leading to the village of Idna, west of Hebron, as well as
blocked other roads connecting southern Hebron towns.
Meanwhile, forces stormed several
areas in Ramallah and arrested eight Palestinians, including Hamas MP Hassan
Yousef, who is an ex-detainee, and Hamas MP Fadel Hamdan.
In the meantime, forces stormed
multiple towns in Bethlehem Governorate, including Dheisheh refugee camp where
they arrested two residents, including Mufti of Bethlehem Abdal-Majeed Amarneh,
in his fifties. Army also broke through Aida refugee camp, where they arrested
a 25-year-old after raiding and searching his home.
Two others, ages 31 and 35, were
further arrested in the nearby villages of al-Khader and Beit Fajjar. Army
forces also arrested a 38-year-old Palestinian, late Saturday night, at
Container checkpoint to the north of Bethlehem.
Meanwhile in Tulkarm Governorate, in
the northern West Bank, Israeli forces stormed the city of Tulkarm and several
nearby towns, where they arrested member of the Palestinian legislative council
Abdal-Rahman Zaidan and six other Palestinians. Witnesses said army conducted a
large-scale search operation in the city after forcing local residents out of
their homes for hours.
In Qalqilya Governorate, army
arrested four people in the town of Azzoun as well as a local resident in
Qalqilya city after raiding his home.
In Jenin, army forces arrested nine
people, including former Minister of Prisoners Affairs Wasfi Kabaha and other
ex-detainees, during predawn raids and a search campaign in Jenin city and neighboring
villages.
Israeli forces further arrested more
than 30 Palestinians, including several MPs and other ex-detainees, in the city
of Nablus and in nearby villages, after raiding and searching several homes, sabotaging
with their contents.
Forces also arrested six people in
Tubas Governorate.
