The Arab Parliament demand immediate action to save Gaza children from starvation

CAIRO, May 11, 2025 (WAFA) — The Arab Parliament sent urgent letters to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, the High Commissioner for Human Rights, and the Executive Director of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), demanding immediate and effective action to save the children of the Gaza Strip from starvation, in light of the ongoing Israeli aggression.

Parliament Speaker Mohammed Al-Yamahi affirmed in a statement on Sunday that the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip has reached unprecedented levels of hunger, severe malnutrition, and medicine shortages. He noted that the population of the Gaza Strip is subjected to a systematic policy of starvation and forced deprivation of food, water, and healthcare, which constitutes a flagrant violation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child and a blatant breach of international humanitarian law, potentially amounting to war crimes and crimes against humanity.

The Parliament called for serious international action before it is too late to secure permanent and safe humanitarian corridors and ensure the entry of food and medical aid into the Gaza Strip without delay. He emphasized the need to compel the Israeli occupation to respect its legal and humanitarian obligations towards civilians, especially children.

Al-Yamahi pointed out that the Arab Parliament will continue its political and legal efforts and movements at the regional and international levels, including parliamentary frameworks, in order to put an end to the suffering of Palestinian children and guarantee their right to life, dignity, and a safe childhood.
