RAMALLAH, June 11, 2014 (WAFA) –
Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah stressed Wednesday that reconciliation is a Palestinian
strategic choice, and that the consensus government is communicating with Arab
countries to activate the financial safety net, in order to help the government
in carrying out its responsibilities towards the Palestinian citizens in all
provinces, said the Government Media Center.
He pointed out that Palestinians
are committed to supporting the two-state solution leading to the establishment
of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
Hamdallah’s remarks came as he
met with Netherlands Representative to Palestine Birgitta Tazelaar, on the
occasion of the end of her official duties.
Hamdallah commended Tazelaar on
her significant role in the strengthening of diplomatic relations between the
two countries, and asked for the continuation of bilateral relations, and
wished her success in her career and personal life.
He briefed Tazelaar on the
challenges facing the Palestinian economy, and the reality of water in
Palestine and the negative impact of the settlements on the Palestinian per
capita share of water.
Hamdallah urged Netherlands to
pressure Israel to carry out its responsibilities towards Palestinian prisoners
on hunger strike and asked for their release, especially after the deterioration
of their health situation that might lead to death.
On her side, Tazelaar thanked
Hamdallah for his role in strengthening the ties of cooperation with her
country, saying that these relations resulted in many developmental projects
benefiting Palestinians.
