TUNIS, April 24, 2014 – (WAFA) – Ministry of Telecommunications
and Information Technology stated Thursday that the Arab Satellite
Communications Organization (ARABSAT) agreed to exempt Palestine from about $2
million in debt for 2013.
The ministry added that this move was approved during the 37th
session of the ARABSAT General Assembly which was kicked off Thursday in Tunis.
The session was attended by representatives of Arab
beneficiaries, including a Palestinian delegation that was chaired by
Monitoring Director General within Ministry of Telecommunications Mahmoud
Diwan.
Diwan expressed his gratitude for this exemption which falls
under Arab efforts to reinforce the Palestinian people’s steadfastness on their
homeland.
The Palestine Public Broadcasting Corporation broadcasts on
several satellites and, as a result, is requested to pay annual subscription
fees.
