CAIRO, June 1, 2026 (WAFA) – The Arab Republic of Egypt on Monday condemned the repeated and provocative incursions carried out by colonists into Al-Aqsa Mosque under the protection of Israeli occupation police, along with rejected practices and violations that infringe upon the sanctity of Islamic holy sites and the historical and legal status quo in occupied Jerusalem.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Egypt also condemned the ongoing Israeli escalation in the occupied West Bank, including Jerusalem, and the accompanying incursions, detentions, and attacks against Palestinians and their property, in clear violation of international law and relevant United Nations resolutions.
The statement stressed that such escalatory measures would fuel tensions and undermine prospects for calm and stability in the occupied Palestinian Territory and the wider region, warning against any attempts to violate religious sanctities or impose a new reality in occupied Jerusalem.
It called on the international community to assume its responsibilities to halt the ongoing violations against the Palestinian people and to ensure respect for the historical and legal status quo of Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, in a way that serves the legitimate aspirations of the Palestinian people and contributes to restoring security and stability in the region.
