Arab Parliament Speaker condemns colonists' incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque

CAIRO, June 1, 2026 (WAFA) – Speaker of the Arab Parliament Mohammed Al-Yamahi has condemned the continued incursions by groups of colonists into Al-Aqsa Mosque under the protection of Israeli forces, including the raising of the Israeli flag inside its courtyards and performing provocative acts and dances.

In a statement issued on Monday, Al-Yamahi described these actions as a serious escalation and a continuation of policies aimed at imposing a new reality in occupied Jerusalem, undermining the historical and legal status quo of Islamic and Christian holy sites, and attempting to assert alleged sovereignty over Al-Aqsa Mosque, in violation of international law and relevant UN resolutions.

He warned that the ongoing violations against Al-Aqsa Mosque, alongside continued actions in Gaza and the West Bank including Jerusalem, are fueling regional instability and undermining efforts to achieve peace and security.

Al-Yamahi stressed that Al-Aqsa Mosque remains a purely Islamic holy site, and that all attempts to alter its identity or erase its Arab and Islamic character are destined to fail.

He renewed calls on the international community, the UN Security Council, and the United Nations to assume their legal and moral responsibilities to halt these violations, provide international protection for the Palestinian people and their holy sites, and hold those responsible accountable.
