NEW YORK, April 10, 2026 (WAFA) – The UNICEF warned on Friday that the intensifying 'hostilities' in Lebanon continue to have devastating and inhumane impacts on children.
The agency said that Israeli airstrikes on Wednesday killed 33 children and injured 153 others, according to available reports. It added that the total number of children killed or wounded has reached around 600 since the renewed escalation on March 2.
UNICEF stressed that children are being pulled from under the rubble, while others remain missing or separated from their families. It also highlighted widespread psychological trauma among minors who have lost loved ones, homes, and a sense of safety.
The statement further noted that more than one million people have been displaced across Lebanon, including an estimated 390,000 children, many of them displaced multiple times.
UNICEF said it is expanding its emergency response on the ground in Beirut, providing medical care, supplies to shelters, and support for injured children through mobile teams and public health facilities.
The agency warned that continued military activity risks undermining ceasefire efforts and long-term stability in the region, urging stronger protection for civilians, especially children.
