CAIRO, August 27, 2026 (WAFA) – Egypt condemned Israel's seizure of the Qalandia Vocational Training Center, which is affiliated with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).
In a statement, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that this action constitutes a flagrant violation of international law and international humanitarian law, and a continuation of Israel's illegal practices against the UN agency and its facilities.
The Ministry warned of the dangers of Israel's systematic targeting of UNRWA and its attempts to undermine its role and end its operations, which would deprive millions of refugees of the essential services the agency provides in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank (including East Jerusalem), Jordan, Syria, and Lebanon.
The Ministry called on the international community to assume its responsibilities and take decisive action to stop Israeli violations, protect the agency's headquarters, facilities, and staff, and ensure its continued ability to fulfill its mandate in accordance with relevant UN resolutions.
Egypt reiterated its full support for UNRWA and its indispensable role, stressing its categorical rejection of all attempts to liquidate the Palestinian refugee issue or diminish their rights, and emphasizing the need to end the Israeli occupation and establish an independent Palestinian state on the June 4, 1967 lines with East Jerusalem as its capital.
