Israeli police ban Jerusalemite researcher from Al-Aqsa mosque for six months

JERUSALEM, January 19, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation police on Sunday delivered a decision to Jerusalemite researcher and educational supervisor Ahmed Al-Safadi, ordering his ban from the Al-Aqsa Mosque for six months.

Local sources stated that the decision was issued without clear justification, forming part of a broader campaign targeting Jerusalemite figures, activists, and researchers, and imposing arbitrary restrictions on their access to Al-Aqsa and their ability to practice religious rituals there.

Israeli authorities have recently intensified such bans and expulsion orders against Jerusalemites in an apparent attempt to empty Al-Aqsa of its visitors and guards and impose a new reality serving their Judaization plans.

Al-Safadi is a distinguished Palestinian researcher and political analyst from Jerusalem, renowned for his documentation of developments in occupied Jerusalem and Palestinian political affairs. His work focuses on examining Israeli efforts to alter educational curricula in the city and to undermine Palestinian cultural identity.

He closely tracks the displacement of Palestinians from Jerusalem neighborhoods, the international recognition of the State of Palestine, and the impact of global policies, including those of U.S. administrations, on the Palestinian cause.
