WHO to begin vaccinations and nutrition programs for 44,000 children in Gaza

GENEVA, November 6, 2025 (WAFA) – The World Health Organization (WHO) announced on Thursday that it will launch a major health intervention in Gaza next week, focusing on restoring basic medical services for children who have been without routine care for nearly two years due to the war.

In a post on X, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said the organization—working in cooperation with UNICEF and UNRWA—will begin providing routine vaccinations, screening for malnutrition, offering treatment, and monitoring growth for about 44,000 children across the Gaza Strip.

Ghebreyesus emphasized that preserving the current ceasefire is essential to ensure the safety and continuity of humanitarian operations, including reaching children who have been deprived of life-saving health services throughout the war.

As part of the plan, WHO is rehabilitating 20 damaged or destroyed health facilities, increasing the number of service points where medical care can be delivered, and working to restore critical health infrastructure that was severely disrupted during the war.
