Two years into the genocidal war: Gaza death toll rises to 67,173, injuries to 169,780

GAZA, October 7, 2025 (WAFA) – Medical sources in the Gaza Strip announced on Tuesday that the death toll had risen to 67,173, while the number of injured has reached 169,780, including 20,179 children, 10,427 women, 4,813 elderly people, and 31,754 men.

Medical sources documented the catastrophic repercussions on Gaza's health system after two years after two years of the ongoing genocide, as follows:

The number of medical personnel martyred reached 1,701, and 362 detainees are being held in conditions of enforced disappearance and detention, deprived of their human rights.

Of the total of 38 hospitals, 25 are out of service, while 13 hospitals are still operating partially and under difficult conditions. The occupation has also destroyed 103 primary healthcare centers, out of a total of 157, while 54 are operating partially.

The interruption of regular medical supplies, the obstruction of their safe access to hospitals, and the increasing number of injuries and deaths have exacerbated the shortage of medicines and medical supplies in vital departments. 55% of medicines, 66% of medical supplies, and 68% of laboratory supplies are currently out of stock.

Hospital bed occupancy rates increased to 225% by the end of last September, compared to the same period last year, reaching 82%. This is a catastrophic rate, given the increasing number of admissions and critical injuries.

The direct targeting of health facilities has destroyed electrical and electromechanical systems. The occupation destroyed 25 of the 35 oxygen generating stations and 61 of the 110 generators. Famine levels in the Gaza Strip have reached critical levels, according to UN classifications, with 460 deaths due to starvation and malnutrition recorded, including 154 children. 51,196 children under the age of five still suffer from severe malnutrition.

The overcrowding of Palestinians in forced assembly areas, falsely labeled "humanitarian," has exacerbated their health and humanitarian conditions, with the lack of basic necessities for life leading to the spread of disease, a lack of clean drinking water sources, and deprivation of food.

The denial of routine and emergency vaccinations has reduced childhood vaccination coverage to 80%. Furthermore, the fourth phase of preventive polio vaccination has been halted, threatening the failure of previous phases as factors for the spread of the disease increase.

4,900 amputation and disability cases require supportive equipment and long-term rehabilitation programs.

The closure of the crossing to the movement of patients and the wounded has prevented 18,000 patients from traveling abroad for treatment, including 5,580 children.

To date, medical personnel in Gaza City continue to fulfill their humanitarian and national duty despite the dangers surrounding them that pose a direct threat to their safety and the safety of the wounded and the wounded.
