RAMALLAH, July 19, 2025 (WAFA) — Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa met today with the new Special Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Palestine, Jaco Cilliers, at his office in Ramallah. The meeting was attended by Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Estephan Salameh, and Minister of Social Development, Samah Hamad.
Prime Minister Mustafa welcomed the new UN official and emphasized the crucial and central role played by the UNDP in supporting the Palestinian people. He underscored the importance of the agency's efforts in promoting sustainable development, enhancing institutional capacity, and supporting state-building in Palestine.
The Prime Minister stressed the urgent need for intensified international pressure to open all crossings into the Gaza Strip to allow the entry of humanitarian aid and supplies, aiming to meet critical needs and address the escalating hunger crisis facing Palestinians in the besieged territory.
Mustafa also underlined the importance of strengthening coordination with various international relief organizations operating in Gaza. He pointed to the role of the government's emergency operations room in coordinating relief efforts and ensuring a unified response to humanitarian needs.
Additionally, the Prime Minister discussed the importance of emergency interventions for families affected by ongoing Israeli settler and military attacks in the West Bank, including Jerusalem. He gave particular attention to the continuous assaults in the northern West Bank, where refugee camps are being demolished and infrastructure systematically destroyed by Israeli forces.
