JENIN, August 14, 2026 (WAFA) — Israeli colonists wearing Israeli military uniforms on Friday assaulted a crew from the Northern Electricity Distribution Company, briefly detained two employees and seized money from one of them.
The company said in a statement that the crew was returning after carrying out fieldwork in Jenin and the towns of al-Yamun and Kafr Dan when, while traveling along the Qabatiya road near the Arab American University junction, guards from the nearby Israeli settlement of Ganim intercepted the company vehicle carrying the two employees and forced them to stop.
The colonists searched the company vehicle and tampered with its contents. They also searched the employees' mobile phones and identity cards and seized money belonging to one of them before allowing the employees to continue their journey.
The company condemned the assault on its crews while carrying out their professional duties, calling for the necessary protection of its technical crews, guaranteeing their safety and freedom of movement and enabling them to reach their workplaces and perform their duties without being subjected to assault or detention.
