Contractors’ Union denies allegations of Palestinian firms involved in colonial settlement projects

RAMALLAH, July 18, 2025 (WAFA) – The Palestinian Contractors Union strongly denied allegations recently circulated by some media outlets and social media platforms, claiming that Palestinian construction companies are involved in implementing projects within Israeli colonies.

In an official statement issued Friday, the Union described these claims as baseless and misleading, affirming that no company registered with the Palestinian Contractors Union and licensed by the Ministry of Public Works and Housing is engaged in any form of construction or infrastructure work inside colonial settlements, which are considered illegal under international law and established on occupied Palestinian land.

The Union emphasized that its official records contain no companies involved in executing or contracted for such projects, and that engaging in such activities would represent a clear violation of the established rules and regulations, as well as a breach of the national and professional standards upheld by the Union.

The Union said it would pursue legal action against those responsible for spreading these unfounded accusations, citing the damaging impact on the reputation of Palestinian contractors and the Union's standing as the sector's legitimate representative.

The statement urged media outlets and the public to verify information before publishing or sharing it, warning against the spread of misinformation that could sow confusion and harm national interests.

It concluded by reaffirming the Union’s shared commitment to defending the integrity of the Palestinian construction sector and upholding its full adherence to legal, professional, and national standards.
