RAMALLAH, February 18, 2025 (WAFA) - Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa received a delegation from the European Parliament Tuesday at his office in Ramallah. The delegation was led by Iratxe García, President of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats, and was joined by Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Wael Zakout and Prime Minister’s Advisor Mohammad Al-Ahmad.

Prime Minister Mustafa briefed the delegation on the latest developments in Palestine and the Government's efforts to implement its relief and early recovery plan, addressing the urgent needs of the Palestinian people in Gaza and providing humanitarian assistance to affected communities in the West Bank and meeting their needs.

He stressed that the Government's top priority in Gaza at this stage is to provide temporary shelter, restore essential services, and rehabilitate infrastructure. He also highlighted the role of the Government Operations Room for Emergency Interventions in Gaza, which coordinates daily efforts with humanitarian agencies and partners to maximize aid delivery and ensure it reaches those in need.

Discussing the situation in the West Bank, Mustafa outlined the ongoing Israeli aggression against Palestinian cities, towns, villages, and refugee camps, particularly in the northern West Bank.

He noted that more than 40,000 Palestinians have been forcibly displaced, homes and infrastructure have been destroyed, settler violence has escalated, and over 900 military checkpoints have been installed to restrict movement between Palestinian areas. Additionally, he highlighted Israel’s ongoing financial warfare against the Palestinian Government, including the continued deductions from Palestinian tax revenues.

The Prime Minister also briefed the delegation on the Government's efforts to implement an institutional reform and development agenda across multiple sectors.

Mustafa expressed appreciation for the European Parliament’s support for Palestine and its people in their pursuit of legitimate and inalienable rights, particularly ending the occupation, achieving liberation, and realizing the independent state of Palestine. He emphasized the importance of strengthening Palestinian-European dialogue and partnership.

For their part, the European Parliament delegation reaffirmed their commitment to upholding international law, international humanitarian law, and the values and principles of peace and justice.

They reiterated their support for the two-state solution as the only path to peace and stability in the region, the Palestinian people's right to live in their homeland within an independent state, and the continuation of political dialogue and European aid package to Palestine.
