Prime Minister Mustafa receives President of Estonia, discusses latest developments and strengthening bilateral cooperation

RAMALLAH, February 13, 2025 (WAFA) – Prime Minister Dr. Mohammad Mustafa received today, Thursday, in his office in Ramallah, the President of Estonia, Alar Karis, where they discussed the latest developments in Palestine and ways to enhance bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

During the meeting, Mustafa outlined the Government’s efforts on humanitarian relief, emergency response, and early recovery in the Gaza Strip through the Government Operations Room for Gaza.

He highlighted its role in coordinating on-the-ground efforts to ensure the delivery and fair distribution of aid, the provision of temporary shelter, the restoration of essential services, the repair of partially damaged homes as part of the first phase, and ongoing collaboration with international partners to develop the plans, laying the groundwork for full-scale reconstruction.

The Prime Minister briefed President Karis on the situation in the West Bank, including Jerusalem, amid continued aggression by the Israeli occupation forces and settlers, particularly in the northern cities, towns, villages, and refugee camps, where destruction, killings, detentions, and forced displacement persist.

He also addressed the ongoing financial war and constraints imposed on the Palestinian Government by the Israeli occupation, which hinder its ability to meet its obligations to the Palestinian people.

“We are using all political and diplomatic avenues to end the occupation, achieve our people's legitimate rights, realize our independent state in line with international resolutions and legitimacy, and reunify the West Bank and Gaza, both geographically and institutionally, under the State of Palestine,” Mustafa stated.

While commending Estonia’s support for Palestine in international forums, the Prime Minister explored with the Estonian President ways to strengthen joint cooperation across various areas, particularly in economic development, technology, cybersecurity, digital transformation, and e-learning.

For his part, President Karis reaffirmed Estonia’s commitment to supporting efforts aimed at achieving peace and stability in the region and expressed readiness to collaborate in areas of mutual interest.

The meeting was attended by Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Wael Zakout, Minister of Telecommunications and Digital Economy Abdul Razeq Natsheh, Minister of Women’s Affairs Mona al-Khalili, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Varsen Shaheen, and the Special Representative of Estonia to the State of Palestine Jüri Kahn.
