OSLO, January 15, 2025 (WAFA) – As a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip seems imminent, Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa Wednesday stressed that such an agreement must lead to the cessation of the Israeli aggression and guarantee that it would not be repeated.
Prime Minister Mustafa made his remarks during a meeting with his Norwegian counterpart, Jonas Gahr Støre, in Oslo. The meeting focused on the latest developments in Palestine and fostering bilateral Palestinian-Norwegian relations. It also touched upon Norway’s work to support the realization of the Palestinian state within the framework of the two-state solution.
Premier Muatafa also stressed that a ceasefire deal must lead to lifting the 17-year siege imposed on Gaza, allowing the entry of aid into all parts of the Strip, unifying the Strip and the West Bank into a single territorial unit, commencing a comprehensive construction of the Strip, and implement the United Nations resolutions on ending the Israeli occupation and realizing the establishment of the Palestinian state.
He said that he and the Palestinian leadership still believed in international justice and law, and voiced his desire to step up work with partners and friendly states in all diplomatic and peaceful methods to help realize the Palestinian people’s legitimate rights to freedom, independence, and statehood.
He voiced his appreciation of Norway’s ongoing support to the Palestinian people and just Palestinian cause and the outstanding bilateral relations which culminated in Norway’s recognition of the State of Palestine.
He thanked Norway for hosting the meeting of the Global Alliance for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution today.
Norway’s Prime Minister Støre emphasized the importance of reaching and implementing the Gaza ceasefire deal in Gaza as soon as possible to stop the suffering inflicted on the Palestinian people as a step on the path towards ending the occupation, establishing the Palestinian stat,e and bringing about peace in the whole region.
He affirmed that his country would continue to support Palestine and the Palestinian government’s efforts in reform and institutional development.
