Israeli soldiers expose arbitrary killings and lawlessness in Gaza's Netzarim Corridor - Haaretz investigation reveals

RAMALLAH, December 18, 2024 (WAFA) - The Israeli occupation continues to commit a wide range of grave violations amounting to war crimes during the genocidal war it has been waging against the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023. A new investigation by the Israeli newspaper Haaretz revealed that occupation soldiers have been randomly targeting civilians, including children and individuals carrying white flags, at Al-Shuhada Junction in the center of the Gaza Strip, also known as the "Netzarim Corridor," under flimsy justifications.

Israeli soldiers expose arbitrary killings and rampant lawlessness in Gaza's Netzarim Corridor, according to the investigation.

Israeli soldiers who served in Gaza told Haaretz that anyone who crosses an imaginary line in the contested Neztarim corridor is shot to death, with every Palestinian casualty counting as a terrorist – even if they were just a child.

Since the onset of the genocidal war on Gaza, the Israeli occupation has barred foreign journalists from entering the Strip and has actively targeted Palestinian journalists working within the Strip in an attempt to conceal the crimes being committed against unarmed civilians.

As a result, the reports and investigations published in Israeli outlets, particularly Haaretz, while highlighting some atrocities based on testimonies from Israeli officers and soldiers, offer only a glimpse into the extensive crimes committed by the occupation over the past 14 months in Gaza.

The investigation highlights the actions of the Israeli occupation army in the "Netzarim Corridor," where soldiers target anyone who comes close to the area or crosses an imaginary line, or what is referred to by soldiers and commanders as the "line of dead bodies."

The Netzarim Corridor spans seven kilometers, stretching from the security fence that separates the Gaza Strip from the lands of 1948. The surrounding area has been completely evacuated of its residents, with their homes destroyed, turning the area into a military base for the occupation forces.

According to the investigation, the Israeli army officially prohibits Palestinians from entering the area. However, in practice, anyone who enters is considered a legitimate target.
