NEW YORK, October 14, 2026 (WAFA) – The United Nations said that its safety and security personnel operating in the Gaza Strip recorded multiple Israeli airstrikes on Tuesday and Wednesday, alongside shelling, demolition-related explosions and gunfire from Israeli naval forces and ground troops across all governorates of the Strip.
At his daily press briefing, UN Deputy Spokesperson for the Secretary-General Farhan Haq stressed the critical need to protect civilians and civilian infrastructure, noting that the UN and its partners continue their efforts to deliver urgently needed supplies to the Gaza Strip.
He said the UN had successfully brought in additional quantities of fuel, protective plastic sheeting, winter clothing, medicines and medical supplies on Tuesday. However, Haq stressed that the volume of items the organization is permitted to bring in remains entirely insufficient to meet the population's vast needs, adding that humanitarian partners continue to face severe delivery constraints due to funding shortfalls and Israeli restrictions.
According to Haq, these restrictions include operational bans on certain partners, import limitations on essential goods and access denials affecting more than 64 percent of the Strip.
Regarding the West Bank, Haq said the UN Human Rights Office reported that Israeli forces raided the offices of Palestinian civil society organizations and a medical compound in Ramallah on Tuesday, confiscating files and equipment and detaining Palestinian citizens.
He added that UN partners have called on Israeli authorities to end their tightening restrictions on Palestinian civic space, warning that recurrent raids, along with the detention of human rights defenders and protection workers, have a chilling and intimidating effect that severely disrupts their ability to carry out vital humanitarian work.
