UN warns over two million Palestinian lives at risk in Gaza amid ongoing blockade

NEW YORK, November 22, 2024 (WAFA) – The United Nations has warned about the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza, with over two million Palestinian lives now at risk due to a severe disruption in essential aid deliveries amid the ongoing Israeli blockade and aggression.

Muhannad Hadi, the UN's Humanitarian Coordinator for the Occupied Palestinian Territory, called attention to the grave situation in a statement released today, emphasizing the dire lack of food, water, fuel, and medical supplies in Gaza.

Hadi noted that for the past six weeks, Israeli occupation authorities have blocked the importation of vital commercial goods into the region, exacerbating the already desperate conditions.

"The lives of more than two million Palestinians in Gaza are on the brink," Hadi said, describing the ongoing wat and blockade as pushing civilians "to the edge of survival."

He emphasized that residents of Gaza are grappling with life-threatening circumstances and an escalating humanitarian disaster, with no access to the critical support they so desperately need.

While humanitarian agencies in Gaza remain committed to continuing their operations, Hadi voiced increasing concerns about their ability to carry out their work effectively under these conditions.

He urgently called for safe and unhindered humanitarian access to the region, stressing that aid must be delivered through legal and secure channels to prevent further suffering.
