Despite international condemnations, agreement reached to release to house arrest Israeli soldiers accused of torturing Gaza detainees at Sde Teiman camp

RAMALLAH, Tuesday, August 13, 2024 (WAFA) - Despite international condemnations and calls for a probe into the inhumane conditions under which prisoners are being held at Israel’s Sde Teiman detention camp, the Israeli media revealed an agreement to release to house arrest the soldiers accused of torturing detainees at the camp.

Israel's Channel 14 reported today that the agreement with the soldiers includes their release to house arrest.

The Israeli media has recently revealed that a Palestinian prisoner was taken to a hospital after suffering severe injuries he sustained after being severely beaten up by 10 Israeli soldiers.

On July 29, nine Israeli soldiers were arrested for questioning on charges of torturing and sexually abusing Palestinian detainees at the said camp.

Video footage aired by Israeli media last week showed Israeli soldiers sexually abusing a Palestinian detainee at Israel’s Sde Teiman detention camp.

Since the beginning of the aggression on Gaza on October 7, 2023, the occupation forces have turned the camp into a base for the detention of detainees from the Gaza Strip. Detainees are held under inhumane conditions; they are kept handcuffed, bound and blindfolded at all times and subjected to brutal torture.
