JERUSALEM, Thursday, August 8, 2024 (WAFA) - The UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) reported today that detected malnutrition cases among children in northern Gaza increased by more than 300% in July compared with May.
Quoting data from the Global Nutrition Cluster and the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC), it said 96% of Gaza's population faces crisis levels of hunger.
The agency urged countries worldwide to increase aid to the Israeli-blockaded enclave and called for an immediate ceasefire to alleviate the dire humanitarian situation.
