NABLUS, Saturday, July 27, 2024 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces Saturday evening killed a Palestinian and injured over 20 others in a renewed raid into the Balata refugee camp, east of the occupied West Bank city of Nablus, according to the Health Ministry.
The Ministry confirmed in a press release that the occupation soldiers gunned down 24-year-old Bassam Hashash and injured 22 others in the camp.
WAFA correspondent said that the occupation forces raided the camp for the third time today. During the raid, they stationed snipers on the rooftops of buildings as surveillance drones hovered over, triggering confrontations.
The heavily armed soldiers opened volleys of live ammunition towards local youths, killing Hashash with a live round in the chest.
Earlier today, the occupation forces killed 17-year-old Lo'ay Mohammad Masha and injured nine others, two of them seriously, following an Israeli drone strike targeting a group of people in the camp.
This brings the total number of Palestinians killed by Israeli occupation forces in the West Bank since October 7, 2023, to 591, including 143 children, according to the statistics of the Health Ministry.
Israeli occupation forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost daily across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for "wanted" Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.
These raids are conducted with no need for a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses in keeping with its sweeping arbitrary powers.
Under Israeli military law army commanders have full executive, legislative and judicial authority over 3 million Palestinians living in the West Bank. Palestinians have no say in how this authority is exercised.
