PM Mustafa briefs diplomatic corps on catastrophic humanitarian situation

RAMALLAH, Wednesday, July 10, 2024 (WAFA) – Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa today briefed diplomatic corps on the catastrophic humanitarian situation of the Palestinian people.

Speaking during a meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Ramallah, Prime Minister Mustafa informed over 60 members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Palestine of the catastrophic humanitarian situation facing Palestinians in the war-torn Gaza Strip, the occupation attacks in various West Bank cities and camps, as well as on the incessant international efforts aimed at bringing an end to the Israeli genocidal war on the Strip and commence reconstruction.

Focusing on the situation in the Gaza Strip and the ongoing genocidal war that resulted in the killing of 38,295 Palestinians and injuring at least 88,241 others, Premier Mustafa reviewed the systematic Israeli policy of targeting defenseless civilians, including women and children, as evidenced in the massacre at a school-turned-shelter in Khan Younes.

He added that the ongoing genocidal war has devastating impacts on all segments of the Palestinian society, including schools, teachers and students, and reaffirmed the government’s support to all efforts aimed at achieving a ceasefire and implementing UN Resolution 2735.

He touched upon the tragic events that occurred the West Bank, including Jerusalem, and condemned the vicious campaign against Palestinian refugee camps and the attempts to politically assassinate and undermine the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA), while stressing the importance of upholding the right of return for refugees.

He also addressed the inhumane treatment of Palestinian prisoners languishing in Israeli jails and called on the international community to guarantee the implementation of relevant international laws and secure their immediate release.

Moving to Israeli settler-colonialism, Premier Mustafa denounced Israel’s illegal policy of settler-colonialism and colonist violence against Palestinians in various West Bank cities, villages and towns, as he called for stronger international actions to halt these practices.

He concluded by expressing his profound gratitude to the states and institutions that have taken a firm position on colonist violence and illegal settler-colonial practices, while affirming that such positions largely contribute to safeguarding the Palestinian people’s rights and supporting the two-state solution.
