BAGHDAD, Thursday, June 6, 2024 (WAFA) – Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Mohammed Mustafa, held a series of official meetings today during his visit to the Republic of Iraq. He met separately with Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rasheed, Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein.

During the meetings, Mustafa emphasized the urgency of halting Israel's genocidal war on Gaza, enhancing relief and humanitarian efforts, restoring basic services in the Strip, and ending Israel's assaults and continuous settler terrorism in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem.

Mustafa underscored that colonization and settler terrorism are obstacles to achieving peace and a two-state solution. He stated that the day after the war in Gaza will be about reuniting all parts and government institutions of the State of Palestine.

In the same context, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of enhancing bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries and convening the Joint Palestinian-Iraqi Committee in the near future to boost political, economic, and social cooperation.

Meantime, the Iraqi President affirmed that the Palestinian cause is at a crossroads today, necessitating the international community and influential powers to demonstrate the highest levels of historical, political, and humanitarian responsibility to work towards comprehensive and just solutions.

He reiterated his country's steadfast position on the Palestinian issue, stressing the immediate cessation of war and the urgent delivery of humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza.

Rasheed highlighted the importance of enhancing joint efforts and supporting the Palestinian people's struggle for their full, fair, and legitimate rights.

Meanwhile, the Iraqi Prime Minister strongly condemned the crimes and brutal violations committed against the Palestinian people by the Israeli occupation forces, emphasizing the imperative need to stop the war on Gaza. He considered the Israeli war on Gaza a flagrant violation of human rights that could amount to genocide.
