TEL AVIV, Monday, July 24, 2023 (WAFA) - Israeli lawmakers passed today the 'reasonableness bill' – a pivotal part of the Netanyahu government's efforts to dramatically weaken the judiciary, according to the Israeli daily Haaretz.

The bill passed by a 64-0 vote, the Knesset speaker added, after opposition lawmakers abandoned the Knesset plenum in protest, added the Israeli daily.

Earlier, Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid revealed that talks to reach a solution to the contentious judicial overhaul reform bill, set to be voted on Monday, have failed, reported Haaretz.

Tens of thousands of demonstrators gathered across Israel to voice their opposition to the judicial overhaul plans, hours before the Knesset vote on the law abolishing the "reasonableness bill" in the second and third readings to enter into force.
