RAMALLAH, Monday, July 24, 2023 (WAFA) – Exports and imports in Palestine increased in May compared to the previous month, today said the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS).
Exports increased in May by 27% compared to April, and also increased by 21% compared to May 2022 and reached $142.7 million, said the PCBS.
Exports to Israel increased in May by 29% compared to April, and it represented 88% of total exports in May.
At the same time, exports to other countries increased by 16% during the same period.
Imports also increased in May by 24% compared to April and increased by 7% compared to May 2022 and reached $720.3 million.
Imports from Israel increased by 14% and it represented 54% of total May imports, while imports from other countries increased by 38%.
The trade balance, which represents the difference between exports and imports, showed an increase in trade deficit by 23% in May compared to April. It also increased by 4% compared to May 2022 and reached $577.6 million.
