RAMALLAH, Wednesday, February 1, 2023 (WAFA) - The Israeli occupation authorities and settlers carried out more than 700 attacks against Palestinians and their properties during the month of January, today said the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission.

It said in its monthly report on the Israeli violations and colonial expansion that these attacks ranged from a direct assault on people, vandalism of property, leveling of lands, uprooting trees, seizure and demolition of property, closures, barriers, and physical injuries.

Most of these attacks were in the Nablus Governorate (131), followed by Jenin Governorate (128), then Bethlehem Governorate (105).

Moayyad Shaban, the head of the commission, said that the number of attacks carried out by settlers amounted to 150 and that they attempted to establish six new settlement outposts in different areas of the occupied West Bank but mainly in the Nablus Governorate, with 72 attacks.

He said that in January, the Israeli occupation authorities issued 55 demolition and stop construction orders under the pretext of construction without a permit, most of which were concentrated in the Hebron, Bethlehem, and Salfit governorates.

He pointed out that the occupation forces and settlers razed more than 541 dunums of Palestinian lands in the Salfit and Nablus governorates with the aim of seizing the lands and turning them over to the settlers.

Shaban said that 81 demolitions for 94 homes and commercial facilities were recorded this month concentrating mainly in the Jerusalem, Jericho, and Hebron governorates.

The report documented the destruction of 758 trees by settlers, most of which were olive trees, concentrated in the Ramallah Governorate with the uprooting of 285 trees, 200 trees in the Nablus Governorate, and 100 trees in the Hebron Governorate.

Shaaban noted that the occupation authorities had approved three new plans to expand colonial settlements in the illegal settlements of Emmanuel, built on Salfit lands, and Gilo, built on Bethlehem lands.

He said the Israeli cabinet issued 27 decisions targeting Palestinians with the aim of making life more difficult for them, some of which amount to a war crime.
