Presidency: Israeli threats to impose sanctions on our people will not discourage us

RAMALLAH, Friday, January 6, 2023 (WAFA) – Nabil Abu Rudeineh, spokesman for President Mahmoud Abbas, said today that the measures announced by the Israeli occupation’s government in response to Palestine’s move at the United Nations is condemned and rejected.

He said in a statement, “Palestinian rights are non-negotiable, and our Palestinian people and its leadership are capable of protecting Palestinian rights that have been endorsed by the resolutions of international legitimacy, whatever the price.”

“We will continue our political, diplomatic and legal struggle to end the Israeli occupation of the land of the State of Palestine and its capital, East Jerusalem,” added Abu Rudeineh.

The President’s spokesman called on the international community, led by the US administration, to take immediate action to stop these Israeli threats that are contrary to all resolutions of international legitimacy.

He continued, “The extremist government of the occupation is seeking to drag the region to the brink of explosion, and is blatantly ignoring international law and international legitimacy. This requires a firm international stance.”

Earlier today, Israeli reports said the Israeli Ministerial Committee on National Security Affairs had ordered the transferring of approximately NIS 139 million (nearly $39 million) from Palestinian Authority funds to the so-called “Israeli victims of terrorism”.

The Israeli Ministerial Committee also reportedly ordered offsetting of the welfare payments made by the Palestinian governments to the Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails and the families of those killed by Israeli occupation forces in 2022.
