RAMALLAH, Thursday, August 27, 2020 (WAFA0 – The financial situation of the Palestinian Authority (PA) in light of ending coordination with Israel was one of the issues discussed today in a meeting between Palestinian Minister of Civil Affairs Hussein al-Sheikh and UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Nickolay Mladenov in Ramallah.

Al-Sheikh, who is also a member of Fatah Central Committee, discussed with Mladenov the latest political developments in the region, the financial crisis of the Palestinian Authority and Israeli threats in light of ending coordination, as well as the problems both the West Bank and Gaza Strip are facing as a result of the Corona pandemic.

The PA ended on May 19 all coordination with Israel following its decision to annex occupied Palestinian territory resulting in the latter withholding the $200 million monthly tax revenues owed to the Palestinians, which exacerbated the Palestinian financial crisis.
