GAZA, November 18, 2012 (WAFA) – Six Palestinian journalists were injured on Sunday in an Israeli strike that targeted the headquarters of several press offices of al-Quds television in Gaza city, according to media sources.
They said that Israeli forces fired almost six missiles targeting the 11th floor of al-Shawa tower, where the media offices are, injuring six Palestinians; one of them, Khader al-zahhar, had his leg amputated due to injuries sustained in the attack.
The tower, which also consists of several other local and foreign agencies and satellite channels, was evacuated.
The Palestinian Journalists Syndicate (PJS), in a statement, strongly condemned the Israeli attack on Media offices in Gaza and described it as a crime that must be condemned by all international and Arab human rights organizations.
PJS called for creating an international commission to investigate war crimes committed by Israel against journalists in Gaza in order to punish them and hold them accountable for their crimes and violations against journalists.
It affirmed its full solidarity with journalists in Gaza, calling on the international union of journalists and relevant unions to launch the biggest solidarity campaign with the Palestinian journalists.
It stressed that there is no immunity for the “killers” of journalists, which requires the unity of all efforts to file law suits at international courts against the Israeli soldiers and leaders, who give out orders to target journalists and their headquarters.
Meanwhile, the Israeli army hijacked the radio transmissions in Gaza, more than once, and broadcast several anti-resistance factions’ messages.
The Israeli army’s spokesperson broadcast a taped voice message and repeated it more than once, claiming he is warning the Palestinian residents in Gaza from the resistance factions and that the Israeli army have moved to another phase of its operations in Gaza.
He claimed that he is giving out advices and guidance to the people of Gaza for their own protection.
