French Delegation Examines Impact of Segregation Wall on Village

JENIN, April 23, 2011 (WAFA) – A French delegation Saturday visited the Jenin area village of Anin to examine the impact of Israel’s segregation wall on local villagers, according to Rabah Yasin, head of Anin’s charitable organization.

He said the delegation listened to people about their suffering as a result of the wall, which took over 11,000 dunums of the village land and prevented farmers from reaching their land.

He said Anin was a commercial hub with dozens of stores catering to Israelis and Palestinians crossing through that area. The stores are now empty and closed since the wall was built, he said.

The delegation expressed deep resentment at the problems the wall had caused to the village residents. They promised to establish many projects in the area to compensate the residents for their losses.
