RAMALLAH, August 3, 2025 (WAFA) – Nabil Abu Rudeineh, spokesman for President Mahmoud Abbas, warned today that ongoing settler violence in the occupied West Bank and provocative incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque represent a serious escalation and a continuation of the Israeli genocide and starvation campaign being waged against the Palestinian people in Gaza.
His comments came in response to the killing of a young man and the injury of seven others by armed settlers late Saturday in the village of Aqraba, south of Nablus, as well as fresh incursions by Israeli settlers into the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound.
“This dangerous and condemned escalation reflects organized terror under the protection and support of the Israeli occupation authorities,” Abu Rudeineh stated. “It is aimed at sabotaging all Arab and international efforts to achieve a ceasefire and restore calm and stability in the region.”
He held the Israeli occupation fully responsible for the consequences “these terrorist acts,” and called on the United States administration to intervene immediately and urgently to stop the ongoing Israeli aggression.
“If the U.S. truly seeks security and stability, it must compel Israel to abide by international law and UN resolutions,” he added.
Abu Rudeineh emphasized that “lasting peace can only be achieved through recognition of the Palestinian people's rights to freedom, independence, and the establishment of their sovereign state.”
He pointed to the growing number of recognitions of the State of Palestine as evidence of a genuine international will to end the war, achieve an immediate and permanent ceasefire, and uphold international legitimacy as the only path to peace and stability in the region and beyond.
“There can be no real peace under this continued aggression,” he said.
