RAMALLAH, February 23, 2011( WAFA)- the Palestinian Prisoners Club (PPC) said in a press release Wednesday that they have documented 12 cases of torture in Etzion prison.
It said that its lawyer, Jacqueline Fararjeh, visited the prison last week and saw a number of prisoners who have been beaten with sticks, chains, iron riffle butts and kicking during detention and interrogation.
Fararjeh said in the statement that the bruises on the prisoners’ bodies indicate severe beating.
Three prisoners, Motaz Zaaqiq, Mo’men Jaradat and Mohammed Bajis, received several blows to the head and were verbally abused.
Head of the PPC, Qaddura Faris, said that Israel follows a systematic policy when torturing Palestinian prisoners and is in direct violation of all international and humanitarian laws.
He demanded that Israeli officials accused of committing 'war crimes' against Palestinian prisoners be prosecuted and punished.
Israeli prisons detain Palestinians under inhumane conditions, subject them to various types of torture to coerce them to make a confession.
