WARSAW, June 12, 2010 (WAFA)- Polish authorities have arrested at the request of Germany a suspected Mossad agent believed to have played a role in the Dubai assassination of a Hamas commander, German prosecutors said yesterday.
''He was arrested in Warsaw and is suspected of being involved in illegally obtaining a (German) passport,'' a prosecution spokesman said, confirming a report in German magazine Der Spiegel.
According to Der Spiegel, the suspect, identified as Uri Brodsky, was arrested this month on arrival at Warsaw airport on suspicion that he helped a member of the hit squad obtain a German passport in June last year.
Israeli Foreign Ministry said Saturday they were aware of 'the issue of the Israeli citizen's arrest in Poland.'
Foreign media reported that one Uri Brodsky was arrested in Poland on suspicion of aiding the hit squad suspected of assassinating Hamas official Mahmoud al-Mabhouh in Dubai. The Foreign Ministry added that Brodsky was 'receiving consular attention as any other citizen would.' It was reported earlier on Saturday that Germany was seeking Brodsky's extradition from Poland.
