Israel Kills16 of Activists, President Abbas Condemns

RAMALLAH, May 31, 2010 (WAFA)- President Mahmoud Abbas condemned, today, the crime committed by the Israeli Occupation authorities against the Freedom Flotilla.

He affirmed in a statement to Palestine TV that himself and the Palestinian leadership are following up this matter seriously, and demanded the UN to stand up in the face of Israeli arrogance against all international laws.

The President said that the PLO Executive Committee and Fatah’s Central Committee are to meet later today to discuss this crime and make the necessary decisions.

He confirmed that the decision to hit the unarmed solidarity activists and captivate them on Israeli seaports is a premade decision by the Israeli leadership.

The Presidency denounced the Israeli attack against the Freedom Flotilla, which has killed and wounded tens of international solidarity activists.

Presidency Spokesperson Nabil Abu Rdeina described it as being a crime against humanity, and called on international and humanitarian organizations to intervene to aid the wounded, affirming that this Israeli aggression would have serious repercussion in the region as in the world.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Salam Fayyad said that this aggression is condemned in all terms, and is surpassed all expectations, insisting that it is a blow to all conventions and international laws, and affirming that the Ministerial Council would look into the aggression in its session scheduled today.

President Abbas announced three days of mourning in the Palestinian Territory.

Israeli soldiers have killed around 16 activists and wounded tens.
