IOWA, May 4, 2026 (WAFA) — Palestinian professor John Dabeet has been elected as a member of the Central Committee of the U.S. Democratic Party in the state of Iowa for the fourth consecutive term.
He was also elected as the party’s platform chair in the state after receiving the highest percentage of delegate votes.
Dabeet is considered one of the most prominent Palestinian-American figures active within the party. He believes in the importance of political engagement as a means to convey the Palestinian narrative to American policymakers and politicians.
He contributed to developing the section of the party’s platform related to the Palestinian cause and successfully pushed delegates to adopt a resolution condemning what he described as the "genocidal war" being committed by the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people.
