HEBRON, May 4, 2026 (WAFA) – The Hebron Rehabilitation Committee on Monday announced that it has won the ICESCO-Azerbaijan "Natavan" Award for Excellence in the Field of Heritage, organized by the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) in partnership with the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, in recognition of its leading efforts in preserving cultural heritage, during a ceremony held in Rabat city.
According to the committee, this marks the fifth award it has received since its establishment in 1996, and the second in 2026, highlighting its prominent role in safeguarding cultural heritage and strengthening the resilience of Palestinians in the Old City of Hebron.
In a press statement, the committee said the award, which saw competition from 54 projects across 22 countries, recognizes its pioneering initiative that integrates heritage preservation with development, despite the challenges facing the city.
