President Abbas Calls for Open Palestinian-Israeli Dialogue

RAMALLAH, April 24, 2010 (WAFA)- President Mahmoud Abbas, called, today, for an open political dialogue between the different Israeli and Palestinian forces, parties and leaders, aside from negotiations; a dialogue with everyone without excluding any Israeli on the basis of two-state solution.

In a speech pronounced, today, before the Revolutionary Council of Fatah, he also on the U.S. administration to find a solution to the Arab-Israeli conflict and to accelerate the pace to reach this solution, pointing out that the solution to the Middle East issue is an American strategic interest.

He declared great appreciation for the courageous stance of the U.S. administration reiterating that the establishment of an independent State of Palestine and to resolve all core issues of conflict, including Jerusalem, refugees, borders and security is a U.S. strategic interest.

The President said that before the entire world is an opportunity as we have a chance to catch this historic moment to create the conditions for a just, balanced and sustainable solution.

The President reiterated his rejection of a state with temporary borders, saying: “We will not accept this in any manner. Palestine is for the Palestinians, Jordan is for the Jordanian and Syria is for the Syrians.”

He also added that the Israeli side is trying to obstruct the opportunity to achieve peace, stressing that the issue needs courageous leadership. He wondered: Is such courage available to the State of Israel for carrying out their historical responsibility, of which Israel is aware that it’ll will gain the immediate term and strategic peace with the people of Palestine as well as the Arab and Islamic nation '.

He said: I say to all Israeli men and women, political forces and parties, leaders and officials at all sites, I tell them that this is the moment of truth, where we have to decide our fates together ourselves and draw our common future '
