WHO Warns of Spreading Deadly Diseases among Palestinians in Gaza Strip

BRUSSEL, June 07, 2008, (WAFA)-World Heath Organisation (WHO) warned over the increasing flow of sewage from the Gaza Strip to the sea, warning that it threatens the possibility of the spread of deadly diseases and epidemics among the Palestinians.

In a report, WHO revealed that there is , according to the laboratory for testing samples of seawater, taken from 13 locations, an increase in the numbers of some types of bacteria, which may threaten public safety, warning of spread of diseases transmitted through contaminated water, such as cholera, typhoid fever ,typhoid counterpart, Aldsntaria and many others diseases.

The report warned that the presence of chemical pollutants in sea water, including organic compounds, which may contribute to increasing numbers of bacteria causing an acute ear and eyes.

 

WHO warned of imminent threat that  leads to contamination of drinking water in the Gaza Strip due to lack of chlorine injection pumps and spare parts necessary for the process of cleansing and disinfection of drinking water.

 

WHO concluded that such pollution would spread diseases and epidemics among million and a half million residents of the Gaza Strip.
