President Abbas Meets with King of Bahrain
MANAMA, February 12, 2008 (WAFA) - President Mahmoud Abbas met on Tuesday in Manama with King of Bahrain, Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa.
During the meeting, President Abbas briefed the Bahraini King on the latest developments in the Palestinian territory, specially the Israeli siege placed on the Gaza Strip.
President Abbas thanked the King for his unflinching support to the Palestinian people and cause.
For his part, King Hamad stressed the need to step up international efforts in support of the Palestinian-Israeli negotiations in order to contribute to a permanent settlement to the conflict.
He added that this settlement should lead to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
The King also stressed his unwavering support to the Palestinian people in their struggle to regain full rights within the framework of the international legitimacy and the Arab peace initiative, calling for a rapid end of the Israeli siege, expansion and settlement policies.
