SANTIAGO, April 10, 2026 (WAFA) – The Palestinian Ambassador to Chile, Vera Baboun, signed a cooperation agreement with the Rector of the Metropolitan Technological University (UTEM), Marisol Durán Santis, and the Director General of the Bethlehem 2000 Foundation to launch a humanitarian program aimed at supporting children from the Gaza Strip who have lost limbs.
The initiative focuses on developing prosthetic limbs using 3D printing technology, alongside awareness activities highlighting the humanitarian situation in Gaza and the resilience of its population.
According to the agreement, the university’s Assistive Design Laboratory (LABDA) will work on producing upper-limb prosthetics for children, aiming to help restore independence and improve quality of life.
Ambassador Baboun said the initiative represents a concrete form of solidarity, emphasizing the use of science and innovation to support children affected by crises and to help them regain dignity and autonomy.
The program also includes a mobile exhibition of posters designed to raise awareness about the situation in Gaza and promote international solidarity.
