2 HR Organizations Calls on Israel to Allow Access between WB and GS
TEL AVIV, December 19, 2005 (WAFA)- Two Israeli human rights organizations called on Israel to allow access between the West Bank (WB) and the Gaza Strip (GS).
In a press release issued Monday, Gisha movement and Physical for Human Rights-Israel (PHR) called the Israeli Government to allow passage of patients, medical professionals and medical students "who need to reach the WB and east Jerusalem to receive and to give treatment and to undergo professional training".
The demand was issued after Israeli Occupation Forces prevented a Palestinian medical student, living in WB, from staying forcing him to deport to GS despite an Israeli High Court order preventing the his deportation.
"As Israel negotiates the start of bus convoys from the WB to the GS, it objects to allowing Gaza residents to remain in the WB or to move there, and it does not recognize address changes of those who have already moved there," they said.
Gisha and PHR-Israel also revealed that the Israeli forces acts endanger familial, economic, educational, social and cultural ties between GS and the WB, and prevent Gaza residents from accessing critical services including medical care and professional training - which cannot be found in Gaza.
