At least 19 Palestinians killed in Israeli airstrikes across Gaza

GAZA, July 5, 2025 (WAFA) – At least 19 Palestinians were killed in the early hours of Saturday as Israeli forces launched a series of deadly airstrikes and artillery attacks across several areas of the Gaza Strip, according to medical sources and eyewitnesses.

In Gaza City, Israeli artillery shelled the Zarqa area in the east, killing at least one person and injuring others.

Five Palestinians were also killed and several wounded when Israeli forces bombed the Al-Shafi’i School in the Asqoula area of Zaytoun, southeast Gaza City. The assault coincided with the destruction of several residential buildings in the area.

In central Gaza, Israeli drones struck a home in Al-Bureij refugee camp, killing two people and wounding others. In a separate strike, two Palestinians were killed when warplanes targeted a house in Al-Maghazi camp, with the casualties transferred to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital.

The deadliest attack occurred in Al-Mawasi, west of Khan Younis, where Israeli forces targeted tents sheltering displaced civilians, killing seven people and injuring more than ten others in what locals described as a massacre.

Elsewhere in Khan Younis, a father and his only son were killed in an airstrike west of the city.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel’s ongoing war on Gaza, widely condemned by human rights groups as a genocidal campaign, has resulted in the killing and wounding of over 192,000 Palestinians, the majority of them women and children. The conflict has also left more than 10,000 people missing, driven hundreds of thousands from their homes, and caused a famine that has claimed the lives of numerous civilians, including dozens of children.

Despite International Court of Justice (ICJ) orders and global appeals to halt its military actions, Israel has continued its devastating offensive, leading to unprecedented humanitarian suffering in Gaza.
