RAMALLAH, Thursday, February 27, 2020 (WAFA) – In its bid to fight spread of coronavirus, the Palestinian Ministry of Health today called on people not to travel abroad for any reason, particularly to attend conferences, and not to convene international conferences in Palestine, at least for the time being.
The ministry, which said in an earlier statement that Palestine remains until now clear of the disease that killed thousands of people in China, recommended to Palestinians to avoid going to or holding conferences attended by people from all over the world to avoid contracting the disease, and to avoid travel abroad for the time being unless it was absolutely necessary.
It said in its daily report on coronavirus that after testing 100 people suspected of having symptoms of the disease, it was found out that none of them was infected.
It explained that five people who were held in a quarantine in Jericho for 14 days after arriving home from China were also clear of the virus and therefore were sent home.
Palestine has also banned entry into its territory of citizens from China, Hong Kong, South Korea, Macao, Singapore, Iraq, Iran, Syria, Lebanon and Italy.
Also Palestinians travelling from these countries, in addition to Thailand, Taiwan, Malaysia, Japan, and the Philippines will be placed in a 14-day quarantine upon arrival at home.
